TakeHome for Windows is an update of the TakeHome... The Net Pay Calculator
program in the Windows environment. TakeHome will calculate your net pay
(calculations of Federal withholding and FICA taxes only in the shareware
version). It takes into consideration any pre-tax deductions (up to four
of them) and 401-k deductions that you may have. It will also give you
comparisons of various exemption levels and 401-k percentages and how they
affect your net pay.
INSTALLATION
This programs requires the file VBRUN200.DLL to be in your \windows\system
directory. Other than that, copy the TH-WIN.EXE file to any directory (or
run it from a floppy drive) that you care to place it in.
STARTING THE PROGRAM
The first time you run the program, it will create the .INI program which
stores the configuration of company name (if any) and the current year FICA
rates. This window will not appear on future runs of the program unless it
cannot find the .INI file or you change it with the "Settings" option.
FILE - NEW
Allows you to enter the basic payroll data. You can either enter a salary
or choose to enter hours and rates (up to 6 different rates per pay period).
Next you should "Set" the Federal Withholding exemption. In the shareware
version, you must manually enter the state and local taxes (these are
calculated in customized, registered versions). You can then enter your
pre-tax deductions (i.e. dependent care, group hospital, medical reimburse-
ment accounts, etc.) in which you are allowed up to four different deductions.
After this you can enter up to 10 other deductions (credit union, union dues,
donations, insurance, etc.) which are deducted from the paycheck. The
Personnel button opens a window for the employee name, social security number
and current pay period ending date. Choose OK and you will be asked which
tax tables to use. Click on the proper table and click OK. This window will
close and you are back to the main program window with your pay data shown.
After the data has been loaded, you will see more options turn from grey to
black, making them selectable.
VIEW
You can select three options under view. Look at the paystub, look and the
dependent comparison and look at the 401-k comparison. Simply follow the
instructions when selecting these options for the completion of the view.
REPORT
Like "View", you can print the various options to your printer.
REGISTER
Use this option to fill out and print a registration form for TakeHome. If
you are having it customized for state or local taxes, be sure to enter the
states and/or localities in the space provided.
We believe TakeHome to be a self-explanatory program depending on what you
are trying to accomplish. Any of the areas that remain "greyed" after the
paycheck data is entered are only available in the registered version.
